What was she thinking!

Nice look Mariah! Everyone on the west coast has been talking about the first pitch that Mariah Carey threw out the other day at the opening baseball game in Japan!

OMG! She looked ridiculous and her pitch barely rolled to the catcher from half the distance to the pitchers mound. I played sports all my life and I was embarrassed for her.
But the real scare was what she was wearing. I'm not sure how to describe it but she's either Daisey Duke living in New Jersey or a hungover hooker!
No offense to anyone living in New Jersey.

This summer is all about bright colors and fun patterns. J. LaMore's new Alice and Trixie items are just what you need! With all the different colors and designs, you could own every Alice and Trixie piece and still look different all the time! My favorite is the Alice & Trixie "Carly" Top. Beautiful blue's and green's in there!!

Coming Back to Earth...

Hi everyone! I know it seems I've fallen off the face of the planet- and mentally, I sort of have, but life is settling in finally! I do know that having 3 kids under 5 is the hardest thing I've ever done, but they sure are great and make us smile. Here is a pic from mother's day weekend- we were on vacation in the panhandle of Florida. (we braved a 10-hour drive with the 3 kids)

I have been keeping tabs of the site and the blogs- congrats on getting Best of Madison! How many years in a row have you gotten the award?

Great clothes, also!! Love the breezy styles!

Breakin' Out the White!

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! We were very lucky to have nice weather here in Madison. I'm sure as many of you know the whole "don't wear white before Memorial Day" rule (which is becoming much less common in fashion now a days.) For those of you who are still stuck on that, it's officially time to wear white!!

What better way to break in the white then by wearing the Johnny Was "Cecil Tunic" Dress! I adore this little tunic! Jennifer mentioned that she wore it with leggings and a tank top underneath (so cute!) I want to try it on with a simple white tank dress underneath (it's sheer) or as a swim suit cover up (I'd be the most stylish one at the pool ;-)!! )

Summer in NY

This Memorial Day Weekend was a lot of fun! The weather was beautiful here and I got to wear my Twisted Heart "Black Heart" Sandal. It was great to walk around the city and not have to wear boots! Thank you summer!

I also wore my new Union "Hollywood" Short which I received a ton of complements on, of course I had to tell everyone where I shop...J.LaMore!
Congratulations on the BEST of Madison!

Britney. . . Oh my!

I know everyone the blog has a place in their heart for Britney but these latest photo's of her swimming should not make her happy. I think her latest album is actually pretty good but the 'Queen of the paparazzi' should keep herself covered up until she takes off a few pounds.

She should know that she can't go anywhere without 20-30 camera freaks snapping her picture. I can't even imagine what that's like. I get worried going to the grocery store on Sunday with no hair and make up done.
Congratulations Jennifer and everyone at J. LaMore for winning "Best of Madison". That's fantastic!

"Best of Madison" 2008 Winner!

Hi everyone: All of us at J. LaMore and jlamore.com are very proud to announce that we we're voted the "Best of Madison" award for 2008! This award is based on a readers poll provided by Madison Magazine and it means so much to be voted the "Gold Medal" winner by all the "friends" who shop and support us. (It's an amazing feeling to open a letter that has such wonderful news!)

This acknowledgement is incredible and I am very proud of everyone who works with us to help make this award possible. I cannot thank all of you enough.

Thank you again!

Jennifer

P.S. The award banquet is Friday, June 27 at the Madison Club!

Welcome back Julie! Wow! It looks like you had a great time in Greece and your pictures are beautiful. You look fantastic too! Vacations really look good on you! ;-)

Few more pics of Greece!

From top to bottom:

Our view off our balcony in Athens at the Ava Hotel (I think that landmark is called Hayden's Arch.... don't quote me on that!)

A picture taken one night before dinner of my sister Marianne, me (in Susana of course) and my sister Katie

All 3 of us girls posing in front of the arch on our last night in Athens! ( P.S. Katie on the Right is in this adorable bubble dress that she bought in Greece. We found this "store" off one of the main streets in Athens, and it is actually a show room of a designer (I'm forgetting the name. will post later). Anyways, the designer is fabulous (The summer line kind of reminded me of a mix between Susana Moanaco and Johnny Was , which PS I saw a ton of Johnny Was while I was there). This designer would fit in very well with all the other fab designers J. LaMore carries!

Home from Greece!

I just got home from Greece a few hours ago and lets just say it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! The first days and nights were spent on the Island of Mykonos which was just wonderful, I highly recommend it!! The temperature was perfect and the scenery was gorgeous.

The next 2 days and nights we spent in Athens. It was also AMAZING! The sites were so cool and the restaurants and shopping areas were very fun. If you want a great vacation I'd highly recommend Greece!

(Above): Mykonos Grand Hotel where we stayed (it was perfect!), the view of the theatre/city from the acropolis in Athens.

(Above) : Our view of Mykonos Island from our pool, This last picture is slightly unglamourous considering we are dressed to go on an 11 hour flight- but in the background is some of the Greek Soccer (football!) team!! We saw the whole team at the airport, being followed around by paparazzi and dressed in matching (very expensive looking) suits and ties. They were Some VERY attractive men might I add!!!

By the way, Welcome Mandy! Greece is fabulous! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I did!!

Love the Lookbook!

The Lookbook photos are amazing - the colors, the locations, the models, and THE CLOTHES - perfection! The best yet...

Congratulations J. LaMore on nine great years! You keep getting better and better...!!

25% OFF

WOW! I just bought all my summer wardrobe, with 25% OFF you cant go wrong! Here's a few of the items that I got!!

First of all yellow is such a great color to wear in the summer, it's so bright and radiant! So.... I had to have the Johnny Was "Frida's Pandora" Dress. It looks great matched with my Twisted Heart "Black Heart" Sandal. It will also look sexy dressed up with heels and the side worn off the shoulder like it's pictured on the model.

I love to wear Capri's so I thought that the Billy Blues "Plaid Bermuda" Shorts would be a awesome buy, I'll wear them all summer long and they would look really cute into the fall with a great jean jacket that I've owned forever!

Take advantage of the SALE before it's over and all the goods are gone!

Wow!. . . David Cook Wins!

David Cook is the new American Idol! Amazing! And, he wins by 12,000,000 votes. That's like, . . . huge. I thought it would have been David Archuleta based on the comments by Simon and the other two judges but David Cook came back and won decisively.

I have to say that last night when Simon picked Archuleta as the winner and that he beat Cook by all three songs, I was thinking how wrong it was for Simon to say that. I thought that as it got to the last two, he should not be so positive one would win and the other would lose. But tonight Simon apologized for his comments before the winner was announced. I wonder if he knew who won or if he really felt bad for saying what he said.

Listening to the other contestants tonight who we're previously voted off was painful except Jason Castro when he sang "Hallelujah". It was the only song he sang good in my opinion and it was amazing.

I'm glad to see that ZZ Top hasn't changed a thing in 200 years.

Oh well! I have to go and console my niece who I'm sure is very upset. I think at some point it had to come down to talent and who had more of it. Bring on "So you think you can dance."

David Archuleta is the winner . . . !

David Archuleta was the overwhelming winner in the American Idol competition tonight! I thought David Cook would be strong but his last two songs were kind of dull and as Simon always says. "forgettable".

Paula was a goofy and sappy as ever and Simon was actually OK! It is the last night of judging though, so how else could he be.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new dance show this Thursday. The previews look fun.

Hi Jennifer: I just got my card in the mail today. Thanks and happy 9th annivesary for J. LaMore.

Welcome Mandy!

I've never been to Greece, but I wold sure love to go. How lucky are both of you guys! I never seem to get out of LA to go anywhere.

All of us American Idol gals from work are getting together tonight for the grand finale. I know the winner is announced Wednesday but all of us couldn't get together then so tonight is just as good!

My money is on David Cook to win it all! I think the fan base element isn't as much of a factor now but just in case, I will check with my young niece to see what she has to say.

Tonight I'm going to wear my little Susana Monaco dress that I absolutely adore. (I think I look really hot in this dress if I don't say so myself. ;-))
Ta ta for now!
Lynn LA, CA
By the way Jennifer! I've never seen "Spamalot" but I would sure go if I had the chance based on your review! I'm so glad you had fun!

Hi Amanda!. . . I love Greece

Welcome Mandy to jlamore.com and the "friends blog". You look like you're having fun in Greece. I don't know how you couldn't. I've been there and I absolutely loved it.

I f you get the chance you should go the the restaurant Il Tinello. Excellent food and the atmosphere is very fun.

The nightlife is so much fun too. All kinds of clubs and bars to enjoy. Let all of us know where you've been and post lots of pics.

Hello from Greece!

Hey everyone! Thanks for welcoming me as a new JLamore.com friend. I’m really excited to be a part of the site.

I’ve been studying in Athens, Greece for the semester and, let me tell you, those Greeks know how to dress! I have definitely learned a thing or two about European fashion while living here, and I’d love to share my new found knowledge with all those at home who may need some new fashion inspiration! The Greeks’ style is not so much the stereotypical white cotton dresses with gladiator sandals as it is tight, urban, and black. You can tell that they definitely take their fashion cues from their neighbors, the Italians.

If you want to try their look, pair a dark pair of skinnies, like the Union “Rose Straight Leg” Jean, with some cute flats or sandals. Then add a large purse like any of the lovely new My Tribe bags, which were very popular among the Greek women, and a colorful ethnic scarf (ala Balenciaga) topped off with a gargantuan pair of shades. Totally Euro-chic.

…and remember, to Greek women there is no such thing as “overdressing".

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

-Mandy

Go see Spamalot. . . .!

Jim and I saw the funniest Broadway show "ever" last night! Spamalot! OMG! I have never laughed so hard in my life. If anyone gets the chance to see this show don't pass it up!

Monty Python comedy was something I was vaguely familiar with but after I saw this play, I am a huge fan of Eric Idle now. We haven't stopped talking about it. Wacky songs that make you laugh until you cry and the satire on everything is amazing and hilarious.

In one scene, God comes down and says to King Arthur ". . . find the Holy Grail. . . ! in a huge booming voice. After God leaves, a knight asks the question, "What? Can't God find his own cup, he's God for God sakes. Why do we have to look for it . . . !"

By the way, "why do they call it the "middle ages" when there's nothing after us. . . " I died I was laughing so hard.

Just remember! "Always look on the briiiiiiight side of life! De do de do, de do de do!

Alice & Trixie "Beaded Mona" Dress

Whoa. This dress is beautiful! I want it to wear to a couple weddings that I'm attending over the summer! The pattern is insane and I love anything that's 100% silk.
What color and style shoes should i wear with this amazing Alice & Trixie "Beaded Mona" Dress? Any suggestion?

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Pssst....

P.P.S ( I swear I'm almost done!) Make sure to go to the "What's New" page and click "show all." There's a bunch of great stuff down there that I seemed to have missed and I look at the site daily (ok... hourly.) So in case you missed it too, check it out!!

-Julie

Hello Everyone!

If it seems like I've fallen off the face of the earth, I'm still here!! I have been extremely busy the last few weeks as the school year was ending, but as of today I am officially done with school! Finally! Now I'm home for only 2 nights before we leave for Greece! I cannot wait. I will post pictures when I return!

When I think of dressing for a Greek Island, I think of fun, tropical dresses. Both the Alice & Trixie "Flirt" Dress (Left) and the Susana Monaco "Pocket Tube" Dress (Right) would be perfect!! Jennifer I may need to make a trip in before I leave. Or of course I could always order these online, considering jlamore.com now offers FREE SHIPPING on ALL orders. What a deal!

I'll catch up more when I return!

p.s. When American Idol is over, what is going to be the hit TV show for the J. LaMore blog?? Any guesses?? I'm going to have to actually watch whatever show it is so I can join in on the fun!

-Julie

Sugar Sweet

I am excited to see all of the new Susana Monaco merchandise at J. LaMore. I have this "String Babydoll" Top in yellow and it's adorable I absolutely love it. Then I saw it in white and I love it just as much! I am contemplating having both. I love how jlamore.com paired this tank with the Union "Hollywood" Shorts. It's a perfect summer look, very cool and casual.

I can't wait for Idol tonight! I'm counting down the hours! I agree that Syesha will be saying goodbye tonight. I am upset about that because I think she is sweet and has a very powerful voice.

Amy

"Fever". . . . ? Ughh!

Hi everyone: Syesha Mercado had her "last" performance on American Idol last night. She sung "Fever" and Simon called a bad cabaret performance and I had to agree. When she was winking and doing her leggy thing around the single chair on the stage I was almost embarrassed for her. She looks fantastic, but I thought it was bad. It kind of reminded me of Liza Minnelli and it would have been is she had the boler hat.

Speaking of Sysesha, what's with the hokey hipster/southern accent she suddenly started using. Keep it real girlfriend!

David Archuleta sang one good song in my opinion and the song he sang when he was dancing around the stage was hilarious. He needs some dance lessons as he is awful when he tried to be hip and sing younger songs. He moves like my old boyfriend. Yikes!
But the real show stopper was David Cook's "The first time ever I saw your face" made famous by Roberta Flack. Amazing! I love that song and he did a great job with it.
It should be interesting tonight to see what happens but my guess is. . . . . . . Goodbye Syesha!

American Idol . . . tonight!

Hi everyone: It's Idol night and the latest news is that David Archuleta's dad (pictured on the left. Mom in the middle) has been banned from the rehearsal set. Apparently he's a "stage dad" and has been demanding and uncompromising. Go figure. He also demanded that David be allowed to change a line in a song he is going to sing tonight causing the shows producer to spend a ton of money to obtain rights to the song. Nice going! At least the Jason Castro fiasco is over. Whew!

It's winding down and next week is the finale'. Tonight they have to sing three songs and I hope that David Archuleta sings something besides the same old song he's been singing. He's good, but mix it up a little. Maybe we should ask daddy about that!
Hi Jennifer: Nice jet! I was sad to read it was a joke as I wanted to say to all my friends that I have a good friend who has a jet! Bummer! I was hoping for a ride sometime when you come to LA.

J. LaMore Jet

I received numerous emails regarding the blog I wrote about our new jet. I must confess, it was a joke to my husband, Jim, who recently had the opportunity to fly one with a friend of ours who really is considering purchasing one. They flew to La Crosse and back and Jim was in 7th heaven! I thought it would be fun to tease him with the picture of a jet with J. LaMore on the tail! It has gotten a lot of laughs and questions! I wish we had a jet! Maybe someday?!

Miss Me

I'm so excited about summer! I went out on Friday with some friends and I got to wear my Miss Me "Woven Crochet" Top for the first time. I got a lot of compliments and everyone asked where I got it. At such a great price how could you not pick one up?

This is a picture of my good friend Emily and I at Wando's.

For next weekend, I plan to wear my Susana Monaco "String Babydoll" Top. Both of these tops have been just been sitting in my closet for the last month. Now summer is finally here!

Who's the new gal!

Hi Jennifer: I just got online and saw the new model for jlamore.com. Holy WOW! I don't know where you find these gorgeous women but you sure can pick'em. I was thinking about the Salvage dress she's wearing and when I saw "her" in it I think I need to have it. I also love the Susana Monaco dress the blonde hottie's wearing. Must be nice to be them.

I also love the new J. LaMore Jet you guys bought. Must be nice to be you! You guys are too much fun!
Lynn LA, CA

J. LaMore Jet is finally here!

Hey everyone: The J. LaMore Jet has finally arrived. It took longer to get here then we thought as we added extra goodies to the interior. Web access. Flat screen plasma TV, a wine bar, and extra luggage area for my shoes. I don't know what they were thinking when they showed me the first one that I sent back. C'mon fellas! Think!

Now we can go on buying trips in style and respond extra fast to any fashion emergency you may have. Can't decide what to wear to the Oscars? Call us and we're there lickety-split!

The sales guy, Ol'e what's his name, gave me the "specs" on the jet and tried to explain to me everything this little beauty can do. I stopped him and said "will it get me from here to there?" He said "yes it will." OK then let's move on.

Anyway, gotta go for now! Talk later!

My God Daughter

Hi Everyone,

Here is a picture of my god daughter Camilla and the two of us together. She was born on April 03, 2008.

I was so lucky to be there to witness her birth.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
Michaela

Susana Monaco

I'm crazy in love with this new Susana Monaco "Pocket Tube" Dress. Not only do I love the Adriatic Sea blue color, I just love the big pockets. Any dress of mine has to have pockets, it's one of my favorite trends right now.
Lindsey, I'm sure you look adorable in this dress and I like that you wore it with gladiator sandals, how perfect! I bet you got a ton of compliments.

"Don't Vote" . . . Jason Castro

Jason Castro got voted off American Idol (thank God) and from all the news surrounding his send off, Jason apparently asked to be voted off. When Ryan Seacrest was calling out the telephone numbers to the audience, Jason was seen mouthing the words "don't vote" behind Ryans back. Whats up with that. He can play hacky-sack, eat munchies, and butcher old classics on his own time now because he's gone! Finally!

What a shame to have wasted the time and talent of some of the other contestants who really wanted to be there when he clearly did not.

Oh well! If you ask me its now down to the two David's and it's a tough call at this point.

Lynn LA, CA

Welcome Michaela. It's nice to see you on the blog.

New Bags at J. LaMore

I hope that everyone saw these great new bags by My Tribe. I love to see a new brand for handbags, I didn't even know My Tribe made bags. I know they make fabulous leather jackets and now... fabulous leather bags!

Both of these bags are adorable and they are at a great price. The "Hobo String" and the "Cognac Buckle" will last forever and will never go out of style.

Amy

Alice & Trixie

I was very excited to see that J. LaMore is now carrying Alice & Trixie brand. I have always liked their designs and I especially love this "Flirt" Dress.

I am always looking for something to make an impression, this dress does that for me. It would be really cute to wear out or to a wedding, it's so versatile.

I have a lot of weddings coming up this summer so this "Flirt" Dress is a definite yes for me!

Amy

Fashion for our feline friends

OK, don't think I am crazy but I like to dress up my cats too. My mom knitted sweaters for them! Well, they are hairless so they get cold.

My cats like to wear their clothes and I swear they pose when I take a picture. Now I know some of you might think these hairless creatures are ugly, but you have to meet them to understand why so many people adore them. Their super friendly personality makes them more of a dog than cat, monkey for their acrobatic stunts, bat for huge ears, and a child for the need to be the center of attention.
Watch out Mr. Bigglesworth!

Poleci

I love this jacket. I bought the cropped Poleci pants and just love them. I wish the jacket was available in my size. Maybe a little lipo and I'll fit into size 6! Ha!

Lash Extension

Has anyone tried the lash extensions? My coworker just had it done and it looks fabulous. I am curious to see how it lasts and what the maintenance is like.
