Odd Beauty Products, No Thanks!

Remember press-on tattoos? Now there’s press-on eyeshadow—promising makeup artist quality shadow in a matter of minutes. How does this concoction work? According to the Eye Envy directions, you smooth the applique over your eyelid; tap it into place to ensure even color transfer and peel back to reveal the shadow creation. There are dozens of looks to choose from: the trendy smoky eye, bold leopard print to zebra.

The smell of bacon can make even a vegetarian’s stomach grumble. What about bacon lip balm? Sound too weird or delicious? You decide! Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow, the originators of the bacon-based J&D’s Foods and products like BaconPOP microwave popcorn and Bacon Salt, believe everything should smell like bacon—and that includes lip balm. The Bacon Lip Balm, $3.99, which they claim is the original, is described as “a constant reminder of the awesome power of bacon.”

Sparkle and sequins are all the rage in fashion. Now, you can put some sparkle in your smile—literally. How? DecoDent Tooth Jewelry makes jewelry—such as ruby-colored crystals or sapphire blue crystals—specifically for your pearly whites. Just like in fashion, a little sparkle goes a long way; one jewel stone is all you need to jazz up your smile. Interested? Talk to your dentist about DecoDent, which are applied with adhesive and can stay in place from six months to three years.

I don't know about you, but these odd beauty products are a definitely no for me!  The last thing I need is leopard eyes that go with my bacon lips and diamond teeth.

J. LaMore Beauty Book: World Beat

As our lookbook grows, we get more and more requests from J. LaMore friends and visitors about it: where to find an outfit or an accessory, how to do hair styles, makeup, etc. Since we all love beauty advice, we have decided to start the J. LaMore Beauty Book feature, which will be posted to J. LaMore Magazine following each new lookbook and will give product recommendations and beauty advice on how to best capture the look.

Our newest lookbook, "World Beat", is a collection of looks that capture exotic globetrotter style. We imagined this paired with a breezy, natural, sun-kissed look. Read on to find out how to re-create it:

1) Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Sun Kissed: The last thing you want to put on your face on a hot summer day is a bunch of face powder. Opt instead for a blush gel or cream that will give a light, sheer tint. This cheek gel will give you a dewy glow. [Target, $18]

2) Braided Updo: Braids were everywhere on the runways this spring. For a low-key look, try an undone, low braid. For a night out, try twisting it into an updo. So many options!

3) Stila Sun Bronzing Powder: There's nothing like sweeping some bronzer over your temples and cheeks for an insta-glow. [Sephora, $28]

4) Sephora by OPI Chic Print for Nails in Tiger: GRR baby! Add a little wild side to your look with OPI's nail stickies. No mani pedi needed! [Sephora, $15]

5) L'Occitane Jasmine Eau de Parfum: Mist yourself with an exotic scent, like Jasmine, which L'Occitane says is "intimately connected with the beauty of the greatest queens of Egypt." [L'Occitane, $66]
