Traveling in Comfort

Living so far away from family, we do a lot of traveling. Many times, I am on a flight by myself with 2 children under the age of 4- What I need is comfort!(and a shot of tequila) Luckily, j.lamore.com carries Twisted Heart... For my future trip to Madison, I think I need the "Diamond" Pant and the "Diamond Peace" Hoodie. Airplanes can be chilly, and these items look cozy and comfy. The Hoodie can be on or off, depending on whether I have chewed-up Goldfish crackers, apple juice or any other foreign item on my t-shirt. I love being a mom, but I also love to look good!

Pedicure-Perfect Soles...

Do you ever wonder how you can keep your feet pedicure-perfect during the summer months? I live in sandals year-round, and have learned a few tricks to maintaining soft soles after your feet take a beating from chlorine, saltwater, and hot pool-decks! The method is this: after a soak in the tub, rub your soles with a pumice stone to remove any rough spots. Then, slather Aquaphor (available at drugstores) all over your feet, paying special attention to the soles. Put on some cotton socks for the night, and wake up with feet that will look and feel great in sandals- like these Diego Di Lucca "Sissy" Sandals!

Hot Jeans!

I've been wearing the ABS "Kate" Wide Leg jean almost everywhere lately. It seems to be hot and humid all over the country, and NYC is no different. This jean is so lightweight and comfortable... it has become my go-to jean, especially in the summer heat! I've worn this pair to work on a casual Friday, shopping with friends, and out on a Saturday night. Of course, in addition to keeping you cool, they fit great and look hot!!

It's a very hot day in Madison today (not to mention very humid.) I don't think I could handle Miami in the summer, Amanda! On days like today, a light skirt would be perfect! Great Looking Outfit

My girlfriend attended a restaurant grand opening celebration this past weekend and, since I'm pregnant and can't wear my clothes, borrowed some cute J.Lamore duds for the event! (She should just visit the site and buy her own stuff but that's another story . . .) She put together the most adorable outfit. She paired the Weston Wear "Lexa" Top with a pair of pants very similar to the Billy Blues "Wide Tie" Trouser but in white. To finish it off she wore some beautiful gold sandals and a wide matte gold bangle and earrings. She has dark skin and hair and the contrast with the white and gold was stunning. I asked her for pics so I'll try to post them asap. Hope ya'll are doing well.

Why I LOVE This Dress!!

I tried on the Loona "Zazabis" Dress and it is even better on! It's so trendy and comfortable (always my two fave things!) What I really love about it is that there is elastic around the hem of it (hence to make it a bubble dress...) When I tried it on I was able to change how short/ long the dress was. So for example, if I wanted to make it super short and throw some leggings on underneath, or make it appropriately long to wear out to dinner with my family... I could do either!

Summer Comfort....

Hi everyone! Just got back from a great trip to the lake in central Florida- my kids FINALLY travelled well and I was able to get some true down-time. I found, however, that my closet is lacking laid-back items to throw on over a swimsuit, or at the end of a long day in the sun.(don't you just love that sun-kissed, sleepy feeling after a day of sun and water?) Birthday Dress!

Thanks for all the restaurant recommendations! I'm sure we'll get the chance to try at least one of your recommended restaurants, so I'll let you know how much we love it! DC Restaurants

Hi Julie,

I lived in DC for 2 years and couldn't agree with Amanda more, Cafe Atlantico is fantastic. I like sitting upstairs near the window. I was shocked when I checked out the menu online but they still have my favorite - scallops with coconut rice. For something a little more casual with a younger crowd, I recommend Sequoia in Georgetown. They have a classic American menu with a lot of great seafood choices. What I like best about the restaurant is the location. After dinner, you can stay at Sequoia and have drinks on the patio overlooking the Potomac. They ususally have a band and the crowd is very hip, young and professional. If you want to leave, just head up the hill to all the cool bars of Georgetown. Regardless of where you go or where you eat, you'll have a great time. I've lived all over the country and DC was definitely my favorite!

Any of the Susana Monaco dresses would be great - it's very hot and humid and the streets of Georgetown are cobblestone in many areas so dress accordingly. My personal favorite is the Susana Monaco "Halter Pocket" Dress.

Great Jeans!

I tried on a pair of Antik Denim jeans for the first time the other day... holy cow! They fit perfect, they are so comfortable, and look great! I know it has been talked about on the blog how most woman would rather pay more money for a great pair of jeans rather then to buy cheap jeans over and over. This would definitely be a pair to look into! They aren't too much, and they will last you a long time!

Where does the time go????

Hi Girls,

I didn't fall off the face of the earth (even though I feel like it some days), it's just been a very busy summer. May was one trip after another and one event after another and June hasn't been much different.

It was so good to read through the blogs and check out all the new merchandise. As always, there are so many cute things on the site! Sounds like ya'll are doing well and enjoying the summer.

I'm going to stay in touch as best possible over the next few weeks but we start construction on our house tomorrow so I'm not sure how we're going to handle the set-up and configuration of all the electrical stuff. To make room for the new baby, we're converting an office/sitting room into a nursery and slightly changing the layout of the upstairs. Even though I'm excited for the end result, I'm really nervous about the process. Entertaining a 1 yr old with construction workers in and out all day should be interesting . . .

I look forward to catching up with everyone!

Restaurant Recommendation in D.C...

Hi, Julie! I hope you have a blast in D.C. My favorite restaurant in D.C. is Cafe Atlantico. The food is fabulous- start with the table-side preparation of guacamole... it's the best I've ever had! Also, the mojitos are to die for. The bartender shared his secrets with me, and I still prepare his mojitos to this day! The restaurant has a really fun atmosphere, as well. As to what to wear, the Susana Monaco "Caliente Tube" Dress would be perfect. Let us know how your trip goes!

Jimmy Buffett!

I'm heading off to D.C. next week to visit my sister Katie! It seems like we planned the trip forever ago, I can't believe it's so soon! The first night I get there we have some very exciting plans... we're going to the Jimmy Buffett concert! I'm not even that big of a Buffett fan, but I know it will be so fun!

Baseball Fashion

Thanks everyone for your advice on what to wear to my b-ball game with clients. Although I almost skipped the game due to an early downpour (yes, I am a "fair-weather" fan), it was a fun game and a beautiful night. The first row seats were pretty hard to beat too! I wore my wide-leg jeans, a little white tee, and a fitted black blazer with heels. Perfect. (And the Yankees won!)

Thanks for the all the congratulations! I actually don't technically graduate till Sunday, but it feels like I'm done already! I am VERY excited that I will be walking across the stage in my ivory Boutique 58 "BT Waldo"'s!!! I'm going into J. LaMore to pick them up today and I am SO excited!!!! My school color is green (so the gowns are green), and the ivory is the perfect color to match!

I have a pair of Steve Madden sandals that I wear around all the time and get tons of compliments on them. Everyone asks where to get them, but I know they don't make them anymore. The Dress was a Hit!

I finally got to wear my Susana Monaco" Austrian Shell Print Tube Dress" to my graduation party yesterday. I got many compliments on it, and I felt great in it! It was so comfortable, so perfect when your running around a grad party.

Hi Amanda: I have only been to a few baseball games but they're so much fun. I think it's important to look your best because those games are a people watchers dream. I like the idea of designer jeans and a cute top. Simple, easy and you can't go wrong!
