An update on the The Oscar's!
Hi Jennifer: Congratulations on being voted in the top 100 online stores. I knew it all along but that's a big accomplishment. Wow! (I love your new hair by the way. So cute!) I love the new LookBook update too and this Flavio Castellani dress. Yummy!
As your humble west coast corespondent for all things glitzy and glamorous. I have a short personal report for you on this years Oscar week and weekend and let me tell you, it was anything but exciting. I was only invited to one Oscar party. One! Are you kidding me. I was shocked! Last year there wasn't enough time in the day to get to all the parties but this year the low key melancholy atmosphere was clearly on center stage and bummed everyone out. The normal list of parties to go to and be seen was, well, . . . . . in recession.
It seems that the talk of the town was not all the parties but all the people and businesses that weren't having parties. Cartier no suite. Not even a tent. Harry Winston and Choppard from Rodeo Drive only worked small gatherings out of their stores. (By invitation only)
Jimmy Choo was there, as usual, and so was Nadja Swarovski from the Swarovski fashion division. They had a big party on the rooftop of Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel. I couldn't get in this year because the attendance was limited 250 when last year it 750. So, my friends and I hung out in the hotel bar with around 500 hundred other frustrated wanna-be's and had a great time. I looked fantastic by the way and told everyone I met and ran into about jlamore.com.
Vanity Fair made a comeback this year but the party was low key at best. Thousands of people gathered to see if Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were going to show up. In addition, the swag bag give-a-ways came to a screeching end.
The one private party I did attend on Saturday night was exciting and wild so I made the best of it. No A-Lister's attended the event but the music was fantastic and the place was packed. Drinks flowed and all night and the limos and town cars all left the scene at 5:00am. Needless to say, I was tired on Sunday morning.
The big party everyone was talking about was the party Prince was throwing at a secret location. We spent most of Saturday night trying to figure out where it was going to be. Let me just say this that if you're going to a party, go to one put on by a rock star.
On Oscar night, my friends and I will be going to the Mercedes Benz viewing and after-party at the Montage Beverly Hills. This would be a fantastic party and a great place to meet new people and be seen.
(I was at a rock-n-roll party some time ago and it was wild. However, you were not allowed to bring in cameras or take pictures with cellphones and security was tight. If you broke a rule security would escort you out the back door and take your picture so you couldn't get back in. Needless to say I followed the rules.)
I have to go to work now. I'll be in touch.
