44 lb. Cat!

Did anyone happen to watch Live with Regis and Kelly today???? I was dying over this cat.... 44 pounds!!!! (and adorable of course.) After seeing how funny it was I had to learn more about it so I went to their site, which then led me to the site of the animal shelter that was holding onto the cat for now. "Princess Chunk" or the cats real name, Powder, already has 800+ people wanting to adopt her!! What a lucky kitty! But as I browsed the site, it was sad to see other cats and dogs that no one adopts, or sponsors for that matter.

I was tempted to sponsor a random dog I saw on this site of the animal shelter, but I decided I was going to look online at a local shelter to see if any dogs in my area needed help. I found a page of dogs not being sponsored, so I was quick to sign up and start helping an animal in need! I haven't finalized my donation as there are SO many dogs (and animals) in need, but I'm looking at helping Lola, a female Jack Russel/Rat Terrier mix. I have a Jack Russel at home so it'd be nice to know I'm helping out her "family!" I wish I could actually provide a home for an animal, but since that's not an option for me right now I'm happy to know I can help in some way!!

Why not google your local animal shelter and help out today?? Even a one time donation will help! It's making my day better to know I'm helping out a helpless animal!

Talking with John Littlefield

The "talent" as they're called in the biz is always fun to be around! Here I am having my picture taken with John Littlefield before he goes back to work.

Being a VIP guest of Dave and Katie Simon of Veridian Homes gave me this opportunity to have some fun and chat with John about the show and the house. He's very nice, polite and gracious. The entire day was tons of fun and I cannot thank Dave & Katie enough for their generosity in having Jim and I as guests to this amazing event.

**News Flash** We're also invited to the after party on Thursday where all the cast and crew will be singing and dancing the night away. The show is "a wrap" on Thursday afternoon and then the party time! Don't you just love my show biz lingo?

Extreme Makeover "Barn" Eddition!

To give you some idea of what condition this property was in, here's a picture of the barn. Can you just imagine! OMG! It's in terrible shape. The site is very remote and the one lane gravel road leading up to the house isn't very good shape either. Last year this Wisconsin area had more then 100 inches of snow. Getting in and out of this property would have been a huge challenge. The barn is useless as is inhabited only with squirrels, mice, raccoons, birds, etc. Even the house the family lived in had all those animals living in the walls and attic.
The picture to the right is what you see when you drive up this very long winding one lane road. The old barn is off to the right.

What a job for Veridian and Extreme Makeover!

As you can see, the VIP area has front row access to the job site and you can get a clear view of all the workers and the progress. I was told that the water for the old house was contaminated and undrinkable so Sams Well Drilling Service was called in and they volunteered to drill a new well for Extreme Makeover. They had to drill 400 feet and they did it in 24 hours, nonstop. I don't know anything about that but I'm told that's amazing feat and at a huge cost to that company. All of which was donated. Wow! I had a picture taken because they deserve some credit for that.

To the house we go!

Once we made it past the checkpoint it was down to the site we go. The garage is being built behind us and they were able to put a roof on it while we were there. We then walked behind the house on the right. We walked right past the film crew who film all day long and get as many people as they can. They have to film for days on end to get approximately 42 minutes of show time. They also have a huge trailer on the site where they work on the day's shooting and events. There's approximately 25-30 trailers and motor homes on the site. Amazing!

I'm getting ready to go work

With construction going on behind us at a rapid pace, Katie Simon and I take a photo-op moment before we go to the job site.
The hard hat didn't quite fit but I love the blue shirt and it's now autographed by the "talent" and proudly hangs in my office.
Behind me is a huge food tent with a beautiful buffet of just about everything you could want and it's all donated by various restaurants, meat companies, Gator aide, etc. It's amazing to see so much generosity.

Extreme Makeover Home Eddition VIP

As an honored guest of Veridian Homes and Extreme Home Makeover Home Addition, I spent the afternoon with great friends watching and support a wonderful cause. David & Katie Simon of Veridian Homes is building the amazing house for the Richland Center, Wisconsin family who was in desperate need. Here are some pictures of the event and the house.

Here I'm with my friend Jenn Scheller (left) getting ready to have David Simon take us down to the job site. We all had to wear hard hats and blue "makeover" shirts to get past security in case we ended up on film. Only blue shirts and Veridian Green shirts we're allowed on the job site. Very fun!

New Hairstyle for "J. LA"

Hi everyone: I couldn't resist having my picture taken with my new hair color and style. I also have a new "friend" picture up with the "new do" as well.

And, I thought as long as I'm getting a picture taken, I may as well get my dog Ruby in it to. Isn't she cute!

For me all dogs are cute, but there's something about a spoiled Golden Retriever that gets me every time.

Note: If you Google Ruby LaMore she actually comes up a few times as she has been named in a couple of magazine articles. Too funny!

My Style!

Kalyn, you are so right how everyone has their own style! My style looks a little something like this...

Clothes: I'll wear anything from a Polo and Bermuda shorts, to a Sky top and Antik Denim Jeans. I also love love love dresses, and wear them whenever I can! My favorite dress designers are Alice and Trixie, Susana Monaco, Lily Pulitzer, and Rhys Dwfen. J. LaMore is a great one stop shop for all of my favorite clothing items because of the wide selection of styles!

Hair: Thanks to the expert advice of the friends on the J. LaMore blog, I now have a fabulous routine that has made my hair look better than ever! I use Frederick Fekkai shampoo and conditioner, followed by the Ojon Tunu Elastik Hair Taming Mouse. After I blow dry and flat iron, I spritz it with Jonathon Humidity Lock out Shine spray. For the days when I don't wash my hair, I use Ojon Dry Shampoo (It's fabulous!!) I highly recommend all the products I listed, available at sephora.com.

Make-up: I'm a huge fan of Bare Minerals make-up! I use it everyday, and I'm never disappointed. For days at the pool, shopping, or just when I'm lounging around, I simply wear Bare Minerals alone. For days when I need to look a little more done up, I finish off with MAC fluidline black eyeliner and my Dior Diorshow mascara. Unless I'm feeling bored with my look, I usually just wear Avon's Mark Eyeshadow in a simple nude shade.

What's your style friends?

Adios Esperanza!

I just got back from a great vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where I stayed at the very relaxing Esperanza. A week of sun, surf, great food, and even better margaritas was pretty close to paradise! I wanted to share a photo of me in my white cotton Susana Monaco dress (a great swimsuit cover-up) and my Just the 2 of Us flower earrings (which were so light and comfortable and perfect with my floral-print bikini)! Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of some great SALE items just before the trip. There is so much of summer left - don't miss out on these fabulous discounts!!!

Hasta Luego!

P.S. The resort stocked some beautiful Alice & Trixie items in their boutique, including the "Athena" and "Carly" tops. So glad to see them on sale at J. LaMore!

Everyone has "My Look"

We always blog about what celebrities are wearing...but, what about hair and make up?

As friends on J.LaMore we all have are profiles and everyone can see "My look" and "My style". I came across an article about celebrities "looks" and thought I'd share one of my favorite celebrities secrets.

Gwyneth Paltrow....

Style: Whether she's wearing a Ralph Lauren gown or hip huggers and a halter, this trendsetter always looks glamorous. Her top style secret? Confidence.

Hair: For Gwyneth's sleek, smooth look, celebrity hairstylist Oribe uses mousse on her damp hair and blows it straight with a flat brush.

Makeup: To give Gwyneth her glow, makeup artist Scott Barnes uses Shu Uemura's sheer fluid foundation. He plays up her eyes with a neutral shadow and lots of mascara. He applies Nars Color Wash in Pussycat on the apples of her cheeks and along the bone.

Marcia Moran Jewelry

I really like the look of the new Jewelry designed by Marcia Moran. I think that every piece has a beautiful vibrant color to it, and the shapes are amazing! My favorite earrings by her are the Marcia Moran "Wire Weave" Earrings. They're very fashionable yet subtle enough to wear casual, which is important to me!

Just the 2 of us!

I'm never one to wear a whole lot of jewelry but when I saw this new Just the 2 of Us "Silver Tusk" Necklace I had to have it!

I really enjoy the simplicity of the necklace and the "tusk" look seems to never go out of style, and it's sterling silver too!

What to wear....

I have a dilemma....I have two weddings in one day! I need a dress that I can wear to both so I don't have to change in between.(I doubt that I could pull a Katherine Heigl in 27 dresses) One of the weddings is black tie and the other is more casual ....what should I wear?

One choice that I was thinking about is the Susana Monaco "China" Dress. It's very beautiful, but 100% cotton which gives it a more casual look.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Fourth of July!

I am so excited for the Fourth of July. Growing up, it was a MAJOR holiday in my family, as my grandfather and his two sisters all share a birthday with our great nation! The annual "family reunion" included more food, drink, and fireworks than any one family can probably handle! My best summer memories as a child included this huge party at my Great Uncle Cy's homestead in southern Wisconsin, in a new outfit of red, white, and blue!

Now that I'm in NYC, my plans are quite different. Drinks on the deck and the Macy's Fireworks display are in store for this year's celebration. However, I will still get a new outfit - with, of course, red, white, or blue. I'm still not sure what I'll wear as I host a small cocktail party this Friday, but I just geared up with several simple pieces for easy entertaining on a hot summer night outdoors... Whether it be the navy Billy Blues Marine Roll-Up Cargo, the white Billy Blues Side Slit Pocket Short, Susana Monaco's Poppy String Halter Top in deep red or her High Back Strap Top in bright blue, or just maybe the wonderfully red Susana Monaco Cha Cha Dress, I know I'm set for Friday's festivities! Happy Fourth!
