J. LaMore Magazine

Thursday, November 30, 2006

The Diane Medak "Black Ruffle Halter"is perfect if you are looking for comfort and style! I wore it tonight to the J. LaMore party and just loved it. If you do choose this top, think about getting the lowbeams. With such a low back, it's hard to find a bra that works with this halter. Luckily It's a loose enough fit to wear nothing underneath and have it still look great!

Max- that dress is amazing! At least one other person bought it tonight, and I bet you both will look gorgeous in it!

Lure Dress

Jennifer - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I received the Lure "Claudette Dress" and absolutely love it. I'll post some pics after the party. Thank you for the recommendation.

Max

So many restaurants!

I see there have already been a few suggestions for a great Chicago restaurant, but I had to add another! My favorite restaurant of all time is Carmines. It has a variety of food on the menu, with mostly seafood, steaks, and pastas. A little on the pricey side, but it's worth it! Click the picture to view more pics and some reviews.

P.S. The calamari is to die for!

Chicago Restaurant!

Hi Amanda: Another great restaurant is Mia Francesca's. Jim and I love it and we always go there if we're not going to Le Colonial. Hip, trendy, and it's where all the beautiful people go. It's kinda loud and bustling but you will love it. Good drinks and a good wine list. Great Italian cuisne. I give it four forks! It's a cab ride but the cabbie will know it.
Jennifer

Chicago Restaurants...

Amanda K: I haven't been to Chicago for a while, so I can't comment firsthand, but I am hoping to get back soon to try at least one of two restaurants that have gotten some really great press... Alinea and Moto. The cuisine at both is "contemporary" or "new American." They're both described as avant-garde and hyper-modern. Both have gotten rave reviews from food critics and other top chefs. They're on the pricier side but could be a fun splurge if you're looking for something really different (and if you're willing to eat Chicago hot dogs and pizza for the rest of your trip). :) Check out the websites for more info as well as pics of the restaurants and food. (The pictures of the food at Alinea are worth checking out... Click on "Gallery" to view.) ...Have fun!

Chicago Restaurant!

Hi Amanda: What a great way to spend a weekend! In Chicago Christmas shopping. I'll send you my list. . . I do have a great restaurant, like my favorite; Le Colonial. It's at 937 N. Rush Street and easy to get to from where you're staying. It's French-Vietnamese and the best food ever! Great atmosphere and easy pricing too! ($20-$25 entre') I'm not sure on the wine!

Weekend trip to Chicago

I am venturing to the Windy City (Chicago) this weekend for a kid-free girls' weekend of Christmas shopping- We are staying just off of Michigan Avenue. Does anyone have any chic restaurant recommendations? I'm up for anything- would just love good food, good wine and a trendy atmosphere! Hurry! I need to make reservations!

Sobe Wine and Food Festival

South Beach Wine and Food Festival! My husband and I have wanted to go every year, and this year we are making it a priority. So, spend wisely during the holidays and plan a fun winter getaway! What a great chance to have a J.Lamore friends reunion!

Hello from Michigan!

Hi Friends! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and is enjoying the long weekend! I'm here in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan visiting my family and tonight we're going to the Detroit Red Wings game!(that's hockey for those of you who aren't fans of the NHL.) I can't wait, it should be a lot of fun. I'm wearing a long red sweatshirt with my black leggings. Comfy and cute... always my favorite kind of outfits! Go Wings!!!

P.S. Check out the new Treesje bags...!! Gorgeous, I can't wait to come home so I can see them in person!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving, especially my family in Wisconsin, who unfortunately, I won’t see until Christmas. I am so grateful for so many things this year, and always grateful for my wonderful parents and brother.

I want to tell my mom, especially, how grateful I am for our friendship and how much I appreciate the great time we had last month in Wisconsin (including the great shopping spree we had at J. LaMore). …I miss you Mom and couldn’t pick a better friend to shop with!

I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Great look for the holiday season

The Holiday season is officially here which means you will be invited to every party you could imagine. Preparing for these party's the question always rises, "What should I wear?” I have the solution to that ever so difficult question, Fashionista black Satin Trouser. These trousers are perfect for the holiday season. The satin makes these pants sexy, chic, and perfect for a semi formal to formal party. Any Elie Tahari top would look perfect with these pants. A must have for this holiday season!

Great Cover-Up Too!

I think some of the Pink Polkadot tops would also make great cover-ups on the beach or by the pool! The cool blue colors in the "Holiday" top would look great sitting by the water. And the "Leopard" top would be great over a simple black bikini or one-piece. I try to travel light, so any piece that can be worn in multiple ways is always a winner with me...

Amanda in NY

Personality and Assets!

You do have a fabulous personality Amanda, no doubt, but why not show off all your assets! This Pink Polkadot top would look great on you. I think the best way for you to wear it, is the same way I do, which is with a tank top underneath. Take any tank top you have in your closet and pair it with this cute top. It is completely fine if your tank top straps don't line up with the straps on this top. With a tank underneath, this top becomes "bra-friendly" which we all love!

Fabulous Personality

Of course I took a picture of my turkey! It was a labor of love!! I was very proud of it. Question, Jennifer: I love the new Pink Polkadot tops- they look great on the model. Do you think they would look equally as beautiful on someone with a larger bust? I wouldn't want the attention to be more on my cleavage than my fabulous personality! ha ha. I especially like this one!

Amanda

Great looking Turkey!

Hi Amanda K: You took a picture of your turkey? That's the funniest thing and it is so you! I do agree with Julie, it does look really good and puts me in the mood for Thanksgiving. Don't worry about an ever growing guest list, it's a compliment to you. Who doesn't love a good party? Take lots of pictures and post them after Thanksgiving in the "Friends" blog! We would all love to see them. (Especially the ones where you look better then everyone else.) :)

Happy Feet

I saw the movie Happy Feet today and thought it was just adorable! It didn't get the best reviews, which I can understand because the plot isn't all that original, but I still think its worth seeing! It's a great movie for all ages, perfect movie to see with the family during Thanksgiving weekend!
P.S. That turkey really looks delicious!

Looking Great on Turkey Day

Hi friends! I am panicking because my guest list for Thanksgiving is growing by the minute... This is a picture of my turkey from last year. The recipe is fabulous- simple and delicious. Hopefully it will turn out as well this year. Even if my dinner is a flop, I know I will look great as the hostess in my J. Lamore duds! Isn't that all that matters, anyway?

Amanda

Katherine Heigl. . . a J. LaMore friend

Hi Everyone: Just in case you missed this months issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, our "friend" and now your friend, Katherine Heigl is on the cover. If you remember we worked with her and producer Kathleen Slattery-Moschkau to shoot the movie "Side Effects" at J. LaMore. Her mother was with her at the time and both of them are so sweet!

Jeans by Allen B

Hello "Friends!" I am going to a country band tonight with my friends that I went to Key West with. The band is called "Madison County" and they are great. I am wearing this new Indigo jean by Allen B that just arrived at J. LaMore and I LOVE THEM! I am going to tuck them into a pair of Frye boots and a Pink Polkadot top, and of course, . . . my cowboy hat.

Those jeans tucked into these Frye Boots will be a great look. I can't get the Pink Polkadot top in this blog because I ran out of space but I did link it for you so you can click it and see it.

Pink Polkadot is here!

This new top came in from Pink Polkadot. Jess loves it, Julie loves it, and I love it. The entire line of Pink Polkadot is really hot right now. Anyone who is thinking of trying this designer will not be disappointed.

As always, we go after the best designers here at J. LaMore and I believe this is going to be a great line for all of us.

Lure Dress for Max!

Hi Max: I have solved your problem! Take a look at tonight's "What's New" email and you will see a long evening dress by Lure. As soon as it's ready to go online I will put it in the blog and send you an email too. We shot it yesterday and it became an instant *Model Favorite* by Jessica. It's so beautiful and fits incredibly well. This would work perfect for you. I promise you will look like a movie star who has already won an Oscar! Or at least you will get all the movie star attention.

I know what movie star attention is like as I was in a movie called "
Side Effects" with Katherine Heigl. She was the star and I played a store clerk. Imagine that! Check out the link and you will see me with Katherine Heigl. I'm in the third gallery picture when you go to the page.

Please help!

I just found out that a holiday party I plan to attend is black-tie. I'm really excited about the party but I have absolutely nothing to wear. The party has a theme, "A Night at the Oscars" with an option to dress as your favorite actor/actress. I'm not interested in dressing up as someone but I do need a formal dress. Do you girls have any recommendations?? I really appreciate your help!

Elie Tahari & Saxon Blue

Elie Tahari has really done it with the saxon blue color. It makes for a gorgeous top, and it is so flattering! It looks great with all skin tones and hair colors, and it has a very elegant look to it. The Elie Tahari "Tyra Pant" has saxon blue pinstripes that are hard to see from a normal view on the website, but when paired with any of the saxon blue Elie Tahari tops it stands out beautifully.

"Pink Polkadots" have arrived!

A new designer at jlamore.com has arrived!!!! We just got in the cutest new "Pink Polkadots" top's ever!!! They have the most flattering cut that I have ever seen!!! These tops are detailed with removable bows and broaches!!! Keep your eye's open for the Thursday's "What's New" e-mail so you can see what I mean!!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving!

You guys really have a plan for Thanksgiving! That's great! I was just reading a great turkey recipe from Bon Apetite and my favorite TV chef, Alton Brown. I personally care more about the wine and a great bottle of Eagles Trace from Napa Valley would be incredible. That wine is so incredible and you would look so good holding a glass of it in your Elie Tahari blouse and Fashionista pants and Claudi Ciuti shoes.

There are plenty of shameless plugs in this blog. :) :)

A Thoughtful and Unique Gift

I know there have been several great ideas posted for holiday gifts, and I wanted to add that the jewelry on this site would be a perfect gift for a number of people on my list - and maybe yours too. My girlfriends really appreciate unique items they can't find anywhere else (they're New Yorkers afterall), and I think the earrings by M.A.G. Gems are just that. If you have a friend who really appreciates distinction, you can't go wrong with a pair of earrings from M.A.G., and the different styles are sure to please just about anyone's tastes. I love the ones at left - really unique and yet simple enough for jeans and a tee.

Thanksgiving

Your girls are really on the ball - I can't even figure out what I'm going to wear tonight!! Yes, I just showered and it's 2:45 in the afternoon! I have a little cocktail party to attend this evening and I'm thinking the outfit I wear tonight can be enhanced a little and work for Thanksgiving as well. Keeping up with the baby, being comfy and looking good can be a challenge sometimes so I love the "Hanna" tops by Tart. They're very flattering and cute, hold their shape and can be worn with jeans, pants, skirts, etc. Tonight I think jeans will work and then a nice pant for Turkey day. It's also a great top for a variety of climates. It will be very cold here tonight but we'll be in LA for Thanksgiving. Anyway, hope ya'll are having a great week!

Thanksgiving

Amanda K, You're outfit sounds adorable. My Thanksgiving will be somewhat untraditional this year - my boyfriend is cooking!! It's just going to be the two of us for dinner, though we'll probably meet friends for after-dinner drinks at a swanky downtown bar later in the night. I need an outfit to match the elegant meal my boyfriend is planning as well as a night of cocktails with friends later... I love both the Stila (at left) and Darcel blouses by Elie Tahari and think either would be perfect for a "romantic" Thanksgiving dinner. :) The chocolate brown is amazing, and one of my favorite colors for Thanksgiving. Both tops are so beautiful, I think I can't go wrong in either one with a great trouser in brown or black.

Thanksgiving

What is everyone wearing for Thanksgiving this year? I am hosting dinner for about 10 adults and am going to wear this Laundry Pleated Dolman top with some brown knee shorts and wedge heels. I recently got this top in the mail (thanks, Jennifer) and I know I've mentioned it before, but I love it! It feels as comfortable as it looks. I will definitely be ordering more Laundry items in the near future!

More New Arrivals!

Hi "Friends!" We had a photo shoot yesterday and the new arrivals look incredible. We are getting ready for the Holiday Season around here and I could not be happier with all the great designs that came in. Elie Tahari looks amazing, as usual! Lu Lu Lame will be a big hit for everyone as will Nelli K. I will let everyone know when they make it to the site. It will be either today or Monday.

Side Note; jlamore.com will be in Lucky Magazine in January and we have a few other surprises coming as well. Stay tuned!

We now have had women inquire about being a "friend" on jlamore.com from Brazil, Uruguay, Egypt, Germany, and Italy! WOW! Thanks to all who inquire and let us know soon.

LipFusion. . . you gotta love it!

You are so right, Julie. Who doesn't have LipFusion in their purse? Everyone I know has it. I use it all the time. I love it!

Just like Sephora, J. LaMore and jlamore.com will have, and recommend or endorse, only the best products a designer offers.

Jennifer

Fusion Beauty

That Glow Fusion sounds amazing Jennifer, I have to try it!! I have Lip Fusion, which is the same brand, and I love it. It's a lip plumping gloss that makes your lips look so full, it's great! I've tried other brands but this has by far been my favorite. Sephora has some great gift sets of it, too!
Lip or Glow Fusion+ A pair or two of Commando Low Rise Thongs= The perfect holiday gift for you girlfriends!

GlowFusion!

Hi everyone: I have got the best product update to share with you. It's called GlowFusion. It's the best self tanner that I have used bar none and I have used them all. What makes it so great is its just a light weight spray that you spray all over, rub it in with your hand, and it's dry in less then 5 minutes. It has none of that self tanner smell too!

I put it on before bed and woke up with an amazing tan. I was stunned at how well it worked and how it looks.

Iisli

Jennifer, I agree. Iisli is a great line, and this blazer is fantastic!! I often use a jacket to pull together an otherwise "ho-hum" outfit -- this one would definitely do the trick, in a big way.

Iisli Blazer!

This Blazer by Iisli is absolutely stunning! It's one of my favorite new pieces that came in and you have to see it to really appreciate it. However, I am sending this back to the phographer for a re-shoot because I know we can get a better shot of this truly gorgeous blazer. Check back tomorrow.

Lovin' the New Arrivals!

Everything that came in is gorgeous! I love all the sweaters and blazers, and since it is supposed to snow 5 inches tomorrow in Wisconsin, those will come in handy! For those warmer days (like today, can you believe it was 65 degrees.... in November?!), I'd love to wear the new Sky "Devine" top. Sky has had previous tops with this medallion detailing on the front, and I swear it has something to do with the way the top fits that makes it SO cute! This is my favorite new piece for sure.

Click to view all Sky items

Great New Stuff!!

Wow, Jennifer! What great new stuff! I can feel my credit card burning in my wallet right now. I am going to have to take a trip north this winter just so I can wear some of those great sweaters. Lucky for me, you also have so many things that I can wear in a warmer climate as well! For example, this top would be great down here for a holiday party, a date night, going out, etc, etc.

New Arrivals!

Stay tuned to your monitors. Some stunning new arrivals will be up Thursday from Sky, Billy Blues, and Elie Tahari. We have some new designers that will be added to the site too, Cris, Iisli, and Twisted Heart.

This will be a lot of work so I better get to it!

Heirloom Gift

Back to Christmas wish lists.... My daughter's birthstone is citrine (November). These would be a great "heirloom" gift for me!! I could wear them now, and she could wear them later!

Beverly Feldman "Nohoe"

Hi everybody: This Beverly Feldman "Nohoe" shoe is suddenly a hot item. Everybody seems to be looking for it. It's an incredible shoe and we now have limited sizes left in it. We love it around here with jeans or dress pant and even cocktail dresses. "Click" the image and check the other views and you will see what I mean.

Red is IN!

Along with checking out jlamore.com everyday to see the latest blog entries, I love to check out vogue.com to see all the latest fashion trends. Just peeking at it today I saw how "In" red is for Autumn/Winter '06-'07. The ABS "Red Silk Shantung Dress" would be the perfect holiday dress this year. It is unbelievable how strikingly gorgeous it really is in person! The red is so vibrant, and it's amazingly flattering too! Such a must have if you are looking for that perfect holiday dress.

Hi Everyone!

Hi Girls!

Loved reading through all the posts from the weekend and wanted to share the following:
Caitlin - love that you're a fan of Bare Essentuals. I'm a product junkie but couldn't imagine not using a couple of the bare minerals. My favorite product is the bisque powder. For those that need a great concealer, I love, love, love this product.

Amanda K - I recently purchased some new bras and really like La Mere, Natori and Wacoal. All 3 brands offer several very feminine but comfy styles. They're also reasonably priced and got a thumbs up from the hubby.

Last but not least - If you can't get to a showing of Wicked soon then I highly recommend the book. Just finished reading it and loved it.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend!

Best Bras

Amanda K: The November issue of InStyle magazine has a "Lingerie Handbook" which focuses on the best bras - they cover fit and also recommend flattering options for all needs (e.g. support, strapless, backless, etc.). It starts on page 295 - I was just reading it... Good luck!

Lingerie Overhaul

I do love it when style and comfort merge!! I find the things I buy that are cute but not comfortable seem to sit in my closet while I continue to go back to the things that are comfortable! Speaking of comfort, I am in the process of a lingerie overhaul and am looking for a few great bras- Anyone have any that they swear by? I am a little busty, and want something with good coverage, that is easy to care for (i.e., machine washable), and most importantly something that is COMFORTABLE!! Help, please!!

Comfort and Style

My work wardrobe mostly consists of suits, which I don't mind wearing, but I love Fridays when the entire office is allowed to follow a "casual" dress code - jeans, sweaters, and anything that isn't "sloppy." I usually stick to jeans and blazers but on this past Friday, I wore my grey Rebecca Beeson sweater hoodie and a pair of leggings and boots. I got a million compliments from the women and men in the office...! And I was so comfortable. Isn't it great when style and comfort merge...?!

Wicked in Chicago!

Hi everyone: I just got an email from a "friend" in Chicago who said that the best show in town is "Wicked." She also said that the show has been extended indefinitely and you can get good seats at great prices.

Wicked follows the Wizard of Oz's infamous Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch as they grow up in the Land of Oz and become unlikely friends. If you loved the classic movie Wizard of Oz growing up, Wicked is an exciting and entertaining look at what happened before Dorothy dropped in.

I linked it for you so just click the image and go!

Dog, Beth, and Britney Spears

This year my roomates and I put our creative minds to work. I love this picture. Who would have thought Dog the bounty Hunter, his wife Beth, and Britney Spears would all be at the same party!

Must have....

I can honestly say this is the best make up ever! Bare essentials is a must. I could never find a powder that looked natural on and did not look like I was trying to cover my face up. Bare Essesntials is light and does not irritate the skin. A starter set comes with three brushes, two powders, and a bronzer for $60! That is a steal. This is a great christmas gift for any woman or a nice treat for yourself.

France, UK, Austria, and Spain

Hi Gals: Thanks for the emails. If you want to be a "friend" on the site, please submit a request and send a head shot photo. We would love to have you and welcome to a place "where friends shop together." And by the way, we blog about everything here. Style, fashion, drink recipes, travel, and well, . . . you name it we'll write about it. If you want to take a trip to the USA, we have friends all over the country that can give you travel tips too!

Thanks for the inquiry.

Jennifer

You've got to try it!

I just have to share my new favorite make-up find!! I hate the fact that my eye liner doesn't stay on for a whole day. I noticed one of my girlfriends whose eye liner looked awesome in the late afternoon and I asked her how it still looked so great! She told me to get MAC "Fluidline." It's not like your normal pencil or liquid eyeliner. It's much easier to apply then anything I've tried before, and it stays on all day (waterproof too!). It comes in tons of fun colors that I can't wait to try!

Fashion Palette. . . Very Nice!

My job at jlamore.com is to make your life easier and happeir in style and fashion. In doing so, this is a great idea from Yves Saint Laurent. A fashion bracelet that has makeup in it. Check this out! When your out on the town, drinking, and having a great time and you need a touch up, just go to your wrist like "Jane Bond" and all your problems are solved. Use your finger, like all the girls in L.A., and fix what ever problem you may have.

It's $50 at Saks! You gotta love it! Good stocking stuffer too!

Jennifer

Three Wise Thongs!!!!!!!

Hi everyone: Our Commando holiday fun pack arrived today. It's called "Three Wise Thongs!" It's three thongs, packaged in one cute red box, in different colors, red, black, and nude. I don't know if any of you have tried Commando yet, but I have to say, they're incredible! I absolutely love them and I own all the styles.

This would be a great little stocking stuffer you could tell your husband or boyfriend about. Or, buy this for your best girlfriend along with a bottle of wine and you have solved your holiday best girlfriend gift dilema. Now that's a great idea!

Wrigley in Miami

Allright- this is the last one, I promise. This is Wrigley, Ruby's sister that lives in Miami! Jennifer, I know you wish you lived down here, but I think Wrigley wished she lived up there! Way too hot for her Wisconsin blood. Okay- back to fashion (my favorite subject).

Mini Fashionistas

Okay- I couldn't resist. These are my two fashionistas- The older one spends more time looking in the mirror and getting dressed every morning than I do! Watch out J. Lamore when she becomes a teenager! (Notice its warm enough for sleeveless on Halloween!!)

She Is Too Cute . .. . . .!

Good job on adding a picture Max, she's addorable! Welcome to jlamore.com and the community of friends you just made. We talk about everything here. When you go to Rome, we will have friends added to the site from all over the world. You can ask about site seeing, restaurants, tours, shopping, etc. We will also have fashions that you can take on your trip too.

Happy blogging!

Jennifer

baby girl

Trying to teach myself how to add a pic to the blog and want to show you my baby girl - let's see if this works???

Aruba . . .

Jennifer just took the Christmas wish list to a new level - now we're talking!!! I understand the need to escape a harsh winter, Reno is no picnic.

Well, I'm not going to Aruba but I am going to Rome in April. When the time comes, I'm going to need help buying and packing for the trip. Any takers???

Wish List? Hmmmmmmm!

That is a great idea. A wish list is perfect. However, since I live in Wisconsin, my wish is a little different. Have you ever been in Wisconsin in the winter?

<----------That's me . . . . . in Aruba!

Jennifer

Max in Reno

Love Amanda's idea of a Christmas wish list. The Qi cashmere turtleneck sweater will be at the top of mine. We should work on our lists for a couple of weeks then direct our husbands to the site for gift ideas. I'm destined to receive baby gear if not. I love my little peanut but don't want Santa to bring me a car seat . . .

Christmas Wish List

This necklace is on my Christmas wish-list. I could wear it with so many things! Black, brown, white- jeans, dresses, flip-flops, heels. Honey, are you listening?

Fashionista!

This new satin jacket by Fashionista is just gorgeous! The shine and fit is so crisp and clean. You wear a lot of different looks with this jacket. I love it with skinny jeans and a dress shoe like the Beverly Feldman Nohoe.

Great Lining!

I didn't notice the lining until it was pointed out. I love it! I think those kind of details really make an item. Very cool.

Allen B Leopard Coat!!!!!!!

You're so right Julie! This faux leopard jacket is stunning. It's so comfortable and the black belt really sets off the detail. I too love the leopard print this year. It's a hot item right now and we have a limited supply of this jacket!
