Cute Flats

Caitlin-
Where did you find those adorable flats? They would be so cute to wear down here in Miami right now with my Immortality jeans and a cute tank!

I just returned home from a wonderful family holiday in Tennessee... I am happy to be back in Miami where the weather is warm! I am eyeing all the cute halters on sale- This one would be great to wear to my New Years Day Open House that I am hosting. It is a casual, laid back atmosphere where everyone comes for a Southern Feast (ham, black-eyed peas, collard greens, mashed potatoes, cornbread, Bloody Mary's, screwdrivers) to hang out, watch football, and nurse a hangover from the night before! With two little ones, we don't get out much on New Year's Eve, but we live it up all day long New Year's Day!

Lets ring in the new year wearing the hottest trends and looking like an ad from Vogue. One of the biggest trends this fall season has been flats. Don't worry they are not going anywhere but watch out of the chucky tall heel trying to power over these flats. Mixing these two shoes are perfect for the spring season.

I have an appt to get my hair colored next Thursday and I'm still not sure what I'm going to do! That picture is a recent one to what my hair color is right now. I usually just get blonde highlights (my hair is naturally a dark blonde), but I think I want to go dark this time! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about that? I'm not sure if I want to do all over color, low lights, or what! I really like the color of Jess Alba's hair, but I'm not sure how to go about getting there! Has anyone ever gone from light to dark? Thanks!!
Only 3 more days till Christmas!!

Thank you very much Jennifer and Amanda for the incredible list of restaurant suggestions. I can't believe how wonderful both of you are. Amanda, you should write restaurant/food reviews! I am so impressed with what you wrote that I am hungry now and want to try all of them. I will be in New York City for six days including New Years too! I am so excited. I will be with family and friends and with this unbelievable list, our decisions on what to do for dinner is easy and fun.

Hi Juliette - Eating out is one of my favorite things to do... In my five-plus years in NYC, I've become partial to a number of restaurants. I've listed below some of my "go-to" places, which are all fantastic. If there is something specific you want a recommendation for (e.g. good pizza, a champagne cocktail, a lunch spot after shopping, etc.), just let me know - I'd love to try to help. Below are some of my favorite places in a variety of locations, cuisines, and prices.
In no particular order...
Jewel Bako (East Village)
Great sushi! The restaurant is very quaint, and the owners are very attentive and charming. If you really want to indulge, I highly recommend the omakase (i.e. the tasting menu).
Pastis (Meatpacking District)
This place is always bustling, and a bit sceney. It's great for brunch or a late night meal. (I'm partial to the french fries.)
Esca (Theater District)
This is a great Italian restaurant with a huge focus on seafood. I go there often. (Don't bother going if you don't enjoy fish.) The fish is incredibly fresh, and the pastas are great too. The menu is extensive, but varied on a regular basis. If you're seeing any shows on Broadway or in the theater district, I would definitely put this place on your list for a meal before or after your show...
Bar Jamon (Gramercy area)
This is a TINY Spanish tapas bar/restaurant. Again, I can't stress enough - it's tiny - but it's cozy. It's the perfect place for a glass (or bottle) of wine and some great tapas. One of my favorite meals (for when I'm not terribly hungry) is a plate of Spanish cheeses, olives, and their tomato bread rubbed with garlic. Yum.
WD-50 (Lower East Side)
This place is very eclectic! The cuisine is described as American Nouvea. I happen to LOVE the place (and it has gotten fantastic reviews from the critics), but it's not for everyone. They always post a sample menu online, so check out their website to see if it's something that interests you before going. The cocktails here are also very inventive.
Cru (West Village) / Jean George (Central Park West) / Per Se (Time Warner Center)
These are my favorite high-end restaurants. Impeccable food and service! These are more expensive than the others I've listed, but they're worth the money if you're looking to have a long indulgent meal! (In addition to the main dining room, Cru also has a front room that you can walk into without a reservation.)
Pegu Club (Soho) / Little Branch (West Village)
These are two of my favorite places for cocktails with my boyfriend or a small group of friends. Both places tend to make very classic "old-school" drinks. Both places are more than willing to whip something up for you based on your preferences. Often I simply make requests such as "something w/champagne" or "something different but not sweet," and the results are always fantastic.
...I wanted to get these out to you yet today but didn't have time to create links for all of them. A great resource, however, is New York Magazine. I think they offer fair reviews of the restaurants and of course cover all of the new and noteworthy openings... (SORRY FOR TAKING UP SO MUCH SPACE HERE EVERYONE! I won't do it again!) :) If you try any great places while you're in NYC, I'd love to hear about your experiences. But again, feel free to email me if you have any questions.

If the other two are booked, try this one, Trattoria Dell Arte. It's incredible Northern Italian quisine. Fanatstic fish, great wine list, and a cool antipasta bar. I love this restaurant! What I love is that you could walk right by it and miss it if you're not looking for it. The atmosphere is bustling and great for people watching. I have to reconsider my 'all time favorite' and say that this would be the place. Let me know how you like any of these places if you go.

Here is another one of my all time favorites! Rosa Mexicana. This is authentic Meixcan quisine and if i had to go anywhere, it would be here. I think Amanda B from new York will have some for you as well .

If there is one thing that I can't get enough of it is Purses. This indeed is a VERY expensive habbit, but I just love bags. They can really make or break a great outfit. Right now I have my eyes guled on this beautiful Chloe Paddington Purse. It is a classic that you can have for a very long time, but is so stylish and can go PERFECT with any outfit. The big lock in the front really makes this bag stand out from any other bag seen on the streets. Once you see it, you will want to have it!!! Maybe Santa will bring it to you if you are nice!!!

Well, I may as well join in on the fun. I just read it here, on the J. LaMore blog, that Miss USA got rehab for partying in the 'Big Apple?' Give me a break. If I was Miss USA, and had that figure, I would be out every night just like her. Do you think she has EVER paid for her drinks?
However, I would not want to go to the clubs with her. I would have to buy all my drinks.

With all the paparazzi following the poor girl all over New York, what could she do! She just turned 21! I wish I was 21 and looked like that! I am so happy that when I was her age, and in college, that I never went to bars, or a party, or "stayed out late." :) What ID checker is going to turn her away for being underage.

Tara Conner, Miss USA, was given a reprieve and sent to rehab! It's a good thing that woman wasn't in L.A. partying. You get extra points for that in 'Tinsletown.'

What are everyone's plans for the holidays? In my case, nothing is more important to me than family, and I am lucky enough to be home for the holidays with my parents, brother, and other close family friends. I will spend Christmas Eve watching the excitement in my 4-year-old's eyes as she awaits Santa to come down her Grammy and Papa's chimney, dressing my 10 month-old in Christmas jammies and waiting for her to wake up for her first Christmas morning, and kissing my husband of 8 years under the mistletoe while counting our blessings! One of those blessings will be the fact that a long-lost family member has been found this year.. and I would like to welcome her back into our lives. If you are reading this, Mary, welcome back and Merry Christmas!

During the holiday season it is inevitable to not see hundreds of people dressed head to toe in their Christmas attire consisting of the oversized Christmas themed sweater, Christmas light earring that light up, and usually some sort of hat or hair piece with bells on it. I have a better idea of the perfect Christmas/Holiday outfit; Fashionista Black Satin pants, and the Iisli Tiffany Blazer. These are great interchangeable pieces. Pairing this outfit up with a simple cotton T underneath, and a pair of sexy stilettos, will put you in the holiday spirit!

Tis the season of many Holiday parties. What better to do than continue the theme of the holidays into a perfect Holiday Martini. There are many different recipes that you can find, but this one is my favorite. I am hosting a party of 50 people for New Year's Eve this year. All of my friends I studied abroad with in Italy are coming into the big city to celebrate the New Year. This martini is one of the few I will be mixing up that night.
SNOWMAN TWINKLE MARTINI RECIPE
Ingredients
2 ounces of Absolut Peppar vodka
1 ounce of white Creme de Menthe
1.5 ounces of Godiva White Chocolate liqueur
1 ounce of Rumple Minze peppermint liqueur
2 small peppermint patty candies
Peppermint twist martini glass rim sugar

Hello from Boston: The weather has been wonderful for this time of year in New England. I have two parties to go to before Christmas, one work party and one family party. I really like the Fashionista Satin Trouser for the work holiday party and I think I will get them since jlamore.com still has them in my size. They are a perfect alternative to a dress. I will take Lynn's advice and get a pair of Commando undies to wear with them as well. Great tip! Thanks!

I wore the Iisli "V-neck Beaded Knit Top" last night and received so many compliments. It's so comfy and great with jeans or slacks. I wore it with a black tuxedo pant for a black-tie party. Hope ya'll are having a great weekend.

Amanda K - I just remembered that you're going to Memphis (our hometown) today for the holidays. I'm so jealous you'll be home for so long. Please tell your family and the "hood" hello. Can't wait to see you!

This is a great dress that I thought I would share with all the readers, bloggers, and friends. It's listed as a "Model Favorite" and I can see why. Check out the back of this dress.

P.S.
I have a holiday party to go to tonight and I will let everyone know how it went and the gossip, if any.
Wow! This is a busy holiday season for our family. Tonight will be the 9th holiday party for us to attend. We're a little tired, to say the least. Even though it's chaotic and exhausting, it's been so fun to wear all my new J. Lamore duds. I received the most compliments on the Lure "Claudette dress" and the Cris "Black Turtleneck Side Rouched Tunic". Tonight, I'm wearing the Iisli "V-neck Beaded Knit Top" and will let you know how it goes. Hope ya'll are enjoying the holiday season.

Hi everyone! Is everyone as busy this time of year as I am? I am just coming off working 3 night shifts in a row (I am an RN), and still have to head out the door with my two kids to Christmas shop and head to the post office! Luckily, I can still look great, even though I feel like a zombie. Today, I'm wearing my Immortality jeans with my Rebecca Beeson Modal Kimono and black sandals (I AM in South Florida). I love to look put together even if my brain is fried! Last weekend I wore the same top with a bright red cashmere scarf in Chicago... so cute!

Before we know if the clock will strike 12:00am and enters the New Year. I am sure all of you are starting to look around for that perfect black dress to stun your friends and the cute guy you work with. In addition to your perfect outfit, what a fun way to add a little flavor to your look with some faux eyelashes and Lip Fusion. Many may think that faux eyelashes are silly, but the right ones will make those lashes look long, thick and beautiful. Lip Fusion Lip Plumper by Fusion Beauty has Micro-Injected Collagen, which plumps lips instantly and painlessly. Lips look and feel plumper, fuller, and smoother. Who doesn't want to have kissable lips when the clock strikes midnight?

I am so impressed with the versatility and comfort of these boots!
Earlier this week I wore them to the civic center with leggings and a dress and got more than a handful of comments from other theater patrons about how great they were (even in the ladies room)!
I had a meeting tonight at the gym I teach at and wore them with the Allen B skinny leg jeans and a long thermal brown top. After the meeting six people came up to me and "raved" about my boots.
The best part? Not only stylish, but comfortable and at a great price. Try these boots, you won't be sorry!

Wouldn't you love to see J. LaMore featured in one of these, or many other, fashion magazines?! I would, too! It is the holiday season, which means it's a time of giving and sharing. Why not share your favorite website with women all over the country? I've been writing to some magazines letting them know about how great jlamore.com is, so hopefully if you feel the same (which I'm sure you do, otherwise you most likely wouldn't be on here!) you can, too! Now... now... I know we all want to be selfish and keep that favorite sweater of ours in a size medium until it goes on sale... but it is the season of sharing!
Hi Everyone! It is freezing cold here in Madison, WI. So cold, it made me want to make a meal that would warm me up! I found this great recipe on Epicurious.com. I made it last night and it was fabulous! I made one minor change, I added one cup of red wine and 6 cups of beef broth. (instead of the 8 cups of beef broth) I also added fresh portabello mushrooms.
It's delicious! Enjoy!

Sorry for the delay.

I just returned from a great shopping trip to Chicago this past weekend. We had a blast! We ended up eating at Carmine's Saturday night- it was delicious. The pasta rivals gnocchi that I have eaten in Little Italy in New York. If I had to say so myself, I looked pretty darn cute, as well, in my J. Lamore clothes. We also had drinks on the 96th floor of the Hancock building. The city was glowing from the sun reflecting off of the snow, and Michigan Ave. was packed with shoppers. If Chicago won't put you in the Christmas spirit, nothing will! I was, however, glad to leave temps in the teens for temps in the 80s back home in Miami. Just a taste of cold is fine with me! Thanks for the restaurant suggestions, everyone!

So many choices! So little time! Wow! How do I begin to choose my dress for our J. LaMore Holiday Party? I mean, Elie Tahari, Laundry, Lu Lu Lame, Susana Monaco, Iilis? Let's face it, my closet at J. LaMore is huge! I finally decided to go with the Laundry Black Coreset Dress, and I have to say, it was incredible!! I felt like a "movie star!" The fit is incredible on this dress, so sexy, but not revealing anything! Plus, I worked in it all night! So, ultra comfortable! Big bonus!

Hi again! I had to mention, my great friend and owner of DreamKitchen's, Terri Schmidt, was wearing this dress from J. LaMore. She looked incredible. What a party! We danced to our favorites, Save a Horse, Ride a Cow Boy and Kid Rock's, Cow Boy, not to mention, many other country favorites! It was loads of fun!
